Hephaestus

We head back to the hotel we’re staying at, all of us trying to process this news. It’s too late to go see Aphrodite’s friend so we will have to go first thing tomorrow morning. Then we are hitting the road again and heading towards Ohio.

After this is over, and we survive and have a happy long, forever, life together, I don’t want to travel for a while. I want a home where we can all just be and relax. Being on the road this long makes me yearn for home badly. A place for all of us.

I stretch out on the bed and Aphrodite comes to join me. She snuggles in under my arm and I pull her in close. I love the feeling of her in my arms, I wish I could keep her here all the time. But she’s a free spirit so I know she would get bored quick.

“We should get some food,” Apollo says.

Aph sits up a little, “yes! I’m starving!”

Ares smiles at her enthusiasm and I wonder if she realizes he only smiles at her. Before she showed up, he barely spoke, just worked out and joined plans for escape. Her presence has changed all of us for the better.

“I would love to find a computer to search where we should stop on the way to Ohio,” Mes says.

“Great, Mes and I will do that and get food. You guys stay here and try not to get into too much trouble,” Apollo says with a wink at Aph.

She blushes and I can’t help making it worse, “what kind of trouble are you picturing right now Tee? You’re blushing!”

Of course, that makes her blush worse and she gives me a little shove. She didn’t add any strength behind it but I play along and fall backwards.

We are all still laughing, except Ares of course but I saw him crack a smile, as Mes and Apollo leave.

I’m not attached to my twin but it’s hard to be apart from him when I’m used to always being together. When we were separated in that hell hole, it was horrible. He’s my best friend and incredibly important to me, except now he’s not the only one. This whole crew is important to me.

“I should take a shower before they come back and we are all fighting for one,” I say, “Aph, you want to join me?”

She glances between Ares and I, unsure so I make the deal a little sweeter.

“Ares could come watch.”

Aphrodite literally perks up at that idea and I know I’ve won. I’m going to have my girl soaped up and wet because Ares can’t say no to her. Not for something like this.

Ares grunts but it’s a pleasant grunt, definitely a yes grunt not a no grunt. Spending so much time with him you really get to know his grunts. Even if you never thought you’d want to.

I stand up off the bed and grab Aphrodite, lifting her right off the mattress and walking with her to the shower.
